Herb Item Code: LYIS-HOPS
All our plants are grown with seed from care and thus are genetically diverse.
At a young age they are paired with beneficial organisms like mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria.
They are grown in air-pruned pots, which helps them thrive upon transplanting.
These are the highest quality seedlings that science and love have yet been able to produce on this Earth, to our knowledge.
Species Information
Hops (Humulus lupulus) - Fast-Growing Perennial Vine for Brewing and Herbal Use
Hops is a vigorous perennial vine grown for its aromatic cone-like flowers (produced on female plants) that are used in brewing and herbal preparations. It climbs by twining stems and quickly covers trellises, fences, pergolas, and other sturdy supports, making it useful as a seasonal screen as well as a productive crop.
Hops prefers full sun for best cone yield, though it can tolerate partial shade. It performs best in deep, fertile, well-drained soils with consistent moisture through the growing season. A winter dormant period supports long-term vigour.
Why plant Hops:
- Cones for homebrewing and flavouring
- Classic herb for teas and tinctures
- Rapid seasonal cover on trellises and fences
- Perennial, returning each spring from the crown
Growing conditions: Provide strong vertical support and a well-drained, moisture-retentive soil. Full sun and a deep sandy loam with soil pH around 6.5 supports high yields.
